Sponsor coats and camping supplies for homeless individuals

Our next Camping for Hope event will be held December 7, 2024. Collections of supplies will begin in October. Early donations help us avoid depleting local inventories ahead of the event. 

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 7, 2024

Our goal at Camping for Hope is to help prepare homeless men and women on the Mississippi Gulf Coast for our cold wet winter. This year we anticipate equipping approximately 200 individuals. Supplies and volunteers are always needed! 

ITEMS DONATED FOR CAMPING FOR HOPE ARE FOR AREA HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS 

Location: The Elks Lodge vacant lot next to Shaggy's near Hwy. 90 & 15th Street in downtown Gulfport. Coast Transit Authority will provide complimentary transportation to and from the federal courthouse next to Mississippi Aquarium the morning of the event. Look for required vouchers at Gulf Coast Community Ministries, Feed My Sheep, Mental Health Association of South Mississippi, Salvation Army, Back Bay Mission and Loaves & Fishes. 

Schedule:

6 a.m. Site set up

7 a.m. Breakfast

8 a.m. Line opens with welcome and prayer, distribution until supplies are gone

10:30 a.m. Lunch to go

Noon - Event closes  

HOW CAN YOU BE INVOLVED?

To sponsor items for this event, donate below. By donating, you are allowing us to purchase needed tents, coats, tarps, and supplies on your behalf! 

You can also donate sleeping bags rated for 30 or 40 degrees, two to six person tents (four-person tents needed most), sleeping bags (40 degree or lower), gloves, hats, new or great condition coats & sweaters, blankets, tarps (8x10 or 9/12), small propane tanks, thin rope, backpacks and other camping supplies.

Starting in October, donations can be dropped off at Gulf Coast Community Ministries 9-11:30 a.m. each Tuesday & Thursday except holidays, 3916 15th Street, in Gulfport. Donations can also be dropped off at Gulf Coast Business Furniture and Supply, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, 14484 Dedeaux Rd. in Gulfport.
